ABOUT THE PRESENT

The Present is a meditation studio dedicated to helping us feel connected, not just when we’re on the cushion but also as a constant state of awareness. We practice together because there is strength in numbers and sometimes it’s easier to navigate the inner terrain when we’re able to learn from the experiences of others. Some of us are here to relax and de-stress, some to enjoy much needed me-time and others still are here to ponder existential questions. Whatever the reason, we believe meditation can change our lives for the better.

ORIGIN STORY

The Present began as a lucid dream in the mind of our founder, Emily Squirrell. After years of personal practice, finding her own meditation teacher, Adyashanti, and guiding thousands of students in meditation she decided to return to her hometown of Kitchener Waterloo. After experiencing a variety of meditation methods, Emily realized there wasn’t just one path to discovering meditation but rather a wide range of equally valuable methods and techniques which became the basis for which The Present operates today.
